Primary school pupils have helped a Council-backed project about homelessness scoop a top award.
And now the work of St Anthony's Primary School's Year 5 pupils is set to be rolled out to other primary schools as a learning resource to help them understand the plight of other young people less fortunate than themselves.
The project involved a group of Year 5 pupils, aged 9 to 10, and homeless teenagers from the district working together. And with support from Bradford Council's Education Buisness Partnership Team, they created the film that went on to be shortlisted out of a total of 50 entrants for the Best Example of a Multi-Angency Approach category at the Northern Silver Screen Awards 2011.
The children from St Anthony's that were involved in the project said that they thoroughly the whole experience and learnt a lot from it.
Bob Jones, who is the 14 to 19 curriculum manager for the Education Buisness Partnership, said: "Our team developed the pack, working with schools, to explore the meaning of homelessness and its effects.
"Accompanying the pack is a dvd telling the true stories of homeless teenagers to promote an understanding of the issues."
