Glastonbury, T in the Park, Reading & Leeds, Download, or V Festival? Which wristband will you be flashing at your friends next summer?
More teenagers than ever are being seduced by the wide range of music festivals that are being offered, what with over 400 different ones every year across the country. It's fast becoming a way of 'finding your identity' what with each wristband defining what kind of person you are. There're the "rock chicks" and indie fans who go to Leeds Festival, and the "metal heads" and "screamo kids" who prefer Download, but one thing all festivals have in common is the atmosphere!
Going camping with friends for a whole weekend away from parents, listening to your favourite bands all weekend and being able to get up as late as you want, sounds like paradise doesn't it? Well, only if you're prepared!
For a start, nearly every teenager will not take into account how important money is! When you're going camping for a weekend, you need to take care of what money you've brought with you. That money has got to pay for your food and drink, plus whatever items you would like to buy whilst at the festival. That, plus taking into account how expensive some of the food can be (£7.00 for a burger?!) shows just how much care you need to take when keeping your money safe. Better get saving now!
Then there's the issue of mobile phones. As i'm sure everyone will know, mobiles have a finite battery life! And when you don't know what time to go and see your favourite bands, it can really put a damper on your weekend. TAKE A WATCH is my advice, as it also means you don't even have to bring your mobile phone in the first place, and risk it getting lost.
Now, I think everybody knows how unreliable the British weather can be. It would be an extremely wise idea to take clothing for any possibility, so that you don't get caught out in the cold rain in shorts and t-shirt! But be aware of how much stuff you want to bring, because you've got to carry it in! bringing a whole suitcase including Gucci shoes and a YSL handbag would not be a good idea.
At the end of the day, the most important part of a festival is having fun! Make sure you have the essentials and are responsible with your freedom and I can assure you that you will have a brilliant weekend!
